Arden Villas Independence Day Splash Pool Party w/ Docta Dawe, Justin James, and Kid Juda

What better way to spend 4th of July than at a East Orlando pool party!! If you have been to the last two pool parties we were involved in this summer, you know we do it right. If you forgot how crazy they were, just check out the pics here and here. Soooo we decided to do it again, and at a different location. This time its going down at Arden Villas and will pretty much be an all out free-for-all. Bring your floaties, and your beer goggles, because its going downnnnn with free beer all day as your serenaded by the sounds of Kid Juda, Justin James, and Myself, DJ Docta Dawe. $10 all you can drink beer, all day. B-Live: A-Trak, Matt & Kim, DJ Jazzy Jeff

Via the Orlando Weekly: Bacardi, the propagators of the liquor that launched a thousand rap lyrics from artists grateful for a word to rhyme with “party,” presents its free concert series with headliner A-Trak. The turntable wunderkind and paramour of Kid Sister is a marvel to watch behind the decks, and you couldn’t ask for a better master of ceremonies on a hot July Fourth holiday. In addition, the Bacardi B-Live lineup boasts the hummable talents of Brooklyn duo Matt & Kim, whose last stop in Orlando landed the Matt half in the hospital with back injuries. (His publicist says he’s better now but that our city should take it easy on him.) Also on the bill is Will Smith sidekick DJ Jazzy Jeff, who posted on Twitter that the plug had been pulled from his June 6 Kansas City set for spinning hip-hop. A plethora of excuses were offered by the venue – he was asked beforehand not to play rap; the sound mix was too loud – but Jeff called it censorship. The incident landed the winner of the first-ever Grammy award for rap back in headlines for the first time in decades, and not a moment too soon. Jazzy Jeff has continued his post-Fresh Prince career with class and mastery, mentoring countless young artists and releasing a stellar hip-hop–soul album in 2007. Of course, if Jazzy Jeff doesn’t spin a little “Summertime,” feel free to pull his plug again. Imagine the look on the face of any random 50 year old investment banker driving home from his downtown Orlando office, when all of a sudden he sees 200+ people with blood all over them, lurching around the city beautiful.

Enter Zombie March Orlando 2009.

Orlando Zombie March was started in 2006 by Orlando’s Rocky Horror Cast - The Rich Weirdoes. This has been an annual event they have put on for the past 3 years. They are inviting all to be apart of this years “Zombie March”. The March is TODAY, so get that makeup ready, FYI: Justin James has plenty of makeup at his house if anyone needs to borrow some. According to the facebook invite:

“If you want to be a zombie, grab an old Halloween costume, Old work uniform, or old clothes and dirty/bloody them however you want. Makeup need not be elaborate(unless you want to) We’d like to see all kinds of Zombies this year- Zombies, Ghouls, Vampires(or Vampire Zombies), Postal Workers, Theme Park Employees, Corporate Zombies, Plague Victims(swine flu please…scary stuff),Furry Zombies(You know who you are), Dead Celebrities, Dead Rockers, Etc.

1st MARCH: 4pm: Meet on Park Ave. Near Rollins College. (7-11) We’ll march down past the stores and shoppers till we reach the gazebo in the park. Then back to the 7-11.

2nd MARCH: 6pm: Meet at Gazebo on Lake Eola (opposite side with theater) We’ll march around the lake, into Downtown Orlando, Up Orange, and then back to the lake.

In years past we’ve seen more victims on the first March but had more zombies on the 2nd. Feel free to do one or both, but know that the Marches are unique in their own way. Which is why we keep doing both.”

The Winter Music Conference is a week long event, held every March in South Florida. The event is attended by a who’s who of the music industry and DJ scene. It is a sought-after place to network, premiere tracks and showcase skills. It is affiliated with Ultra Music Festival as well. If you don’t know, then you are just plain out of the loop. The great thing about WMC is you have to opportunity to see DJ and acts that would never come through our beloved Orlando. We will be listing all the parties that are a MUST day by day throughout the week.

This hot dude has the nicest hair I have ever seen, and he’s not a bad DJ either. You may have heard some of his original production on crack4djs.net as a member of “Bass Invaders” or heard him dropping an eclectic mix of house/electro/miami bass at various venues across Orlando and Miami.

Thanks to Justin James for sending over his latest mix B.S.O.D.! We are happy to feature it here at OCC before anyone else has gotten their hands on it. I still have not heard the complete final cut of this mix, but listened to an almost finished product in Justin’s car a few weeks ago and was very impressed.
