Well, well, well…My blog seems to have started quite the stir around the Orlando/UCF area. Producing almost 100 comments through FaceBook and OCC combined and people still just can’t stop talking about it or giving their criticism on it.
Since its day 2 and I have had a day to talk with everybody about it, this is where I’ll take the opportunity to add some things in the blog from yesterday that I guess I should have put in there to make it more clear to people.
Let’s start with this guy from a promotion PRODUCTION company in town, since we apparently “deleted his comment cause somebody didn’t like it”. Here ya go buddy, front and center:
“I posted a long ass comment on your blog but I guess somebody didn’t like it because I don’t see it there.
Summary.
1. You are burning bridges with every promoter/dj/club owner if they have read this because of your attitude. Go to school and learn that is not the way to get gigs.
2. NEWS: Hip Hop is NOT different if that’s what you are going for.
3. Electro is NOT different either.
4. Facebook is a networking tool, don’t like it? delete people who piss you off with their promotions, or sign OFF!
5. Blogs won’t stop idiot promoters.
6. Hip hop has been DONE. Electro has been DONE. Top 40/mash ups has been DONE. What are you going to bring new to the table??
7. Instead of blogging and complaining about same old shit like every dj/promoter, do something different and let your music do the talking.
8. What were you really trying to prove with your blog because what you said was pretty commen sense to most, at least in my mind.
Peace
Eyecue”
Here’s my rebuttal in the order you listed:
1. Burning bridges, eh? With who? I didn’t mention any club names, and the ones I did mention I said they were thriving. I’m not saying anything but the truth here and obviously am saying what everybody in this town has been thinking cause there is much more positive response to this blog than negative.
2. Did I say a hip-hop party would be different? And let’s not forget the only partys that have lasted 10 years+ in this town ARE hip-hop partys (Phat Friday and Super Sundays).
3. I guess I didn’t lay the sarcasm on thick enough for you, did I? You really think I am suggesting this town needs ANOTHER electro party? Or that I was suggesting MORE Top 40/Mashup/Electro nights?
4. I never talked down on anyone who uses FaceBook as a networking tool. It is a great way to get your events out there and we utilize it to the fullest extent. I did talk down on kids who feel that its necessary to post more than one event invite for the same night and then remind people of it on their status as soon as they don’t see it on their home screen anymore, every hour, everyday, until the event.
5. No shit, it will hopefully open their eyes and let them know that people are fucking annoyed as shit.
6. See 2-3
7. My music DOES do the talking. I post remixes and mixtapes all the time and get rave reviews, been featured on the front page, top spot of the biggest mixtape torrent site on the internet, multiple times. If my music didn’t do the talking I would still be DJing with some bar owner trying to tell me what I have to play and conforming to that but instead I take pride in what I do and would rather have no nights at all and keep my originality than confrom to sound like every other asshole on Alafaya (except for a select few of course, you guys included).
8. Well obviously other people appreciated what I had to say because we are getting commended for finally speaking out about what everyone has been thinking for so long.
There you go sir, your comment was posted.
Let’s move on to another one, shall we? Oh look, its from another person from your promotion PRODUCTION company:
“haha, no, more like “Two Tab Trip.” dude if you really think we’re a bunch of yuppies you’ve got it twisted; save those comments for the Vintage/Vixen crowd. I dislike the preppies just as much as you do, but I don’t need to spin gangsta music to prove that. now, the problem with your blog is that it screams about a problem with the nightlife, yet instead of planting a solution, you tell us to hold our breath and wait for you and Dawe to save us from the same non-sense and mainstream music you guys spin. if you want to shout at our culture and ignore Jeff’s claim that “your followers don’t cross paths,” go ahead. but people like us don’t relate; we don’t show up to your parties with do-rags to do the crip-walk, and we don’t listen to white kids with “trill nigga” mixtapes. It’s not that I want to hate on your shit, that’s just the way it is. If u wanna talk shit about the underground techno crowd, don’t be surprised when they retort w/ the contempt they have for your gangsta bullshit.”
So I spin rap music because I hate preppy people? LOLZ. It couldn’t be because I’ve been listening to it since I was younger or anything right? You obviously never made it to one of my sets at Pounders/Octagon/Knight Klub with Dawe, Junior Diaz and I when I would have all the preppy people going crazy over some hip-hop. Dawe and I didn’t say for anyone to hold their breath nor did we say that we were going to be the saviors of Orlando nightlife. I said we HOPE to bring something to the table that will change what is going on now.
You’ve obviously never met me by you saying do-rags and crip walking. I wrote that blog that has your panties in a twist buddy, and did I use any slang? Wuz I typin like dis cuh? No. So don’t be so quick to judge buddy. Just because I spin Dirty South shit doesn’t make me some ignorant white trash fuck who wears SouthPole and jean shorts with J’s, just like you guys spinning at Dungeon doesn’t make you guys “yuppies”, right?
You might not listen to “trill niggaz” mixtapes and you clearly don’t because that mixtape was put out after Pimp C died, and that was the name of one of his songs, but I wouldn’t expect you to know that and I honestly wouldn’t fault you for it because like you said, it’s not your cup of tea. Meanwhile, 20,000+ people DO listen to that kind of mixtape and love what I did on it.
Last but not least let me make this perfectly clear: I DO NOT HATE ELECTRO/TECHNO/MINIMAL/WHATEVER YOU GUYS WANNA CALL IT THESE DAYS.
I was at Crush LAST NIGHT, and I have been there multiple times before that. I also have frequented JESUS a few times as well to catch the major acts they bring in. I HAVE AN ELECTRO MIXTAPE. Docta Dawe and Junior Diaz got me into the genre when we use to DJ together and it rubbed off on my hip-hop ass like a motherfucker. I don’t know where that got mixed up but I just wanted to make that clear.
Docta Dawe and I would just like to thank everybody who has commented on this blog, debated with us, and pretty much kept the website in everybodys browser over the past 2 days. I will no longer partake in anymore going back and forth with promoters who feel like I’m an asshole on FaceBook or here, cause I frankly don’t give a shit.
The blog yesterday was written for one reason and one reason only and whether you like it or you don’t you helped achieve our one goal: to get people talking.
